ScriptDawg was founded in the autumn of 2016 by Newportonian James Humphreys. A Scriptwriting graduate from the University of South Wales, he was feeling increasingly disenfranchised by the lack of opportunities for new writers. The enterprising young buck that he is, James developed the 72-Hour Writing Challenge in Cardiff, intent on freely staging the work of ambitious, wide-eyed scribes.
For the next several months, James would use his disposable income from microwaving your chicken at a Wetherspoons kitchen to fund the majority of the events. Calling in favours and spare hands when required, ScriptDawg - then just a name for an event - was birthed. After enlisting the likes of Sam Rees, Liam Kelly and Allan Neve, ScriptDawg became what it is today - an incubator with a sole focus on nurturing the talents of New Writers.
